My comment is in regards to Curt Schilling. There is no doubt he is a unique case for the Hall. His on field accomplishments would have him in the hall, no doubt. It would be a mistake to say that it’s about politics. Schilling shares similar political views with Mariano Rivera. They both wear MAGA hats and support Trump. Despite this Rivera was voted in unanimously as you are fully aware. So, it’s not about the politics.
As I said, his case is unique. His views are a toxic combination of Barnum and Bully. He supported the insurrectionist and still does, This is not a political view. It’s an un-American one. Add to this, his “so much goodness” tweet in full approval of mouth breathers who wore tea-shirts with Rope, tree, Journalists, some assembly required printed on the back, is it any wonder that sports journalists(some African-American whose family history that might include Lynchings?) might not be all that eager to cast their vote in his direction? He may very well be inducted. He also might be the most odious ever inducted and that’s saying a lot with Anson already in. His induction also may have to wait until after his death. It’s complicated, much like the racism, xenophobia and misogyny he traffics in. Again, none are political positions. They are fascist views. Do we really want another fascist in the hall? Really? Anyway, just something to think about. His lack of support is not about his politics. I wish you would discontinue furthering that canard.
